Hey Guys…I really enjoyed this podcast. I hear you…it’s a question I’ve been dealing with. I left the IC 15 years ago searching for what I didn’t really know. Grace and community I feel strongly about now, and Bo’s Cafe is helping me tremendously. But where to enter the larger community…I just don’t know…but I’m trusting Christ. Thanks again.
P.T.
Thank you for this Pernell. Keep walking with us, one of the reasons that we want 10’s of thousands of Bo’s Cafes is so that they can intersect and lend beauty to the entire body. From the families and friends to the larger communities that lend strength to each other.
I think you guys hit one out of the park with this discussion. You acknowledged the tremendous pain people are in over IC experiences, which makes it possilbe for His precious wounded children to receive your love. You gave people permission to grieve and heal. I think what you said about the fact that the “room of grace” can exist in all forms of church is huge. So many make it about the form “IC” and miss the fact that it takes people living out of a theology of grace.
My neighbor friend Jeff and I had a chat about your discussion. He brought up a good question…are you guys saying a “Bo’s Cafe” gathering can’t be a church? The discussion seemed to infer that we need to be part of a larger gathering, yes/no?
Vic-Great question. I think, as you listen to the comments from yesterday’s podcast, and the sharing, you realize that such an environment cannot probably exist solely in a Bo’s. While so much of what we long for can, an extended community of all ages, sharing such reality with each other, will probably always exist best in a community that gets much larger than a table. So, the question then comes, “how do we create authentic communities in our world where such life can happen, but without the junk that comes along with it?” I think that is the best question. Bo’s is incredible. But if it is all we have, we will miss this whole world where we are teaching each other, worshipping with each other, living life together, serving together, loving together, letting others in from the outside and protecting each other. Both should exist. And for some only Bo’s will exist. But if Bo’s is all there is, where does Jennifer find her Bo’s in a world where she and her family can do life together? Our goal should not be to give up on the concept of a local community, but how to make whatever we do develop-authentic and full of grace and love and lack of religious control.
I SO enjoyed this podcast. It has helped me tremendously. I thank the Father for His truth and you guys who have stepped up to the plate to help those who are hurting and angry…and encourage them not to stay there…but walk in grace and truth and the freedom to love and live in Christ. I love what was said about your children referring to one of you as “uncle”. That is what my daughter does when she feels the love/grace from people in our small group. We are one big Body! We cannot function without one another operating in our gifts. It is hard to walk with some folks, but the reward of watching them come to a deeper understanding of who they are in Christ is so rich and fulfilling. I am SO excited about grace that I can hardly stand it! Praise God for Bo’s Cafe. It’s changed my whole way of living!!!
